  • Healthy Holiday Tip #2

Set boundaries ! One of the most common stressors people report over the holidays is family. Whether it’s critical comments coming from Aunt Ruth or discussions of politics that are far to heated. The key to enjoying the holidays without family stress is to set boundaries.

You have the freedom to choose which events you attend and which you politely decline. You have the freedom to set boundaries around your spending and only spend what you can afford. You have the freedom to express your feelings (respectfully) if they are hurt by someone. You have the freedom to change the subject if a topic you’re uncomfortable with comes up at Christmas dinner. Boundaries aren’t about blocking and restricting as much as they’re about freedom in knowing your rights and needs.

This holiday season, set boundaries for yourself to decrease unnecessary stress and conflict . Keep your boundaries and keep your peace for the holidays.
